Intellectual Disabilities     9th Honors

VoiceThread instructions

1.  Create your own account on VoiceThread.  Your school Gmail usually doesn't work.

2. Research your assigned topic.
  • What are the characteristics of the disability?
  • What is the diagnosis history of the disability?
  • What is the treatment history of the disability?
  • Historically, how have people with this disability been treated?
  • *Please note what websites you use for your research. You will need to create a Works Cited page at the end of your research, crediting all the sources you used. This can be done by using EasyBib.com or another online source. Ensure that you are citing in MLA formatting. Write six paragraphs about the disability (5-7 sentences each), giving an encompassing view of what you have learned.
3.  Write six paragraphs about the disability (5-7 sentences each), giving an encompassing view of what you have learned.

4.
Pick an appropriate and interesting picture that goes with each paragraph. You should also cite your pictures in your Works Cited page.  Find the original website where the picture was posted and create a citation for it.   If someone knew nothing about your topic, they should gain a much better understanding after looking at your pictures and reading/listening to your paragraphs (think mini-lesson). Upload these pictures to your VoiceThread.

5. Using the 6 pictures and 6 paragraphs, use the recording feature of VoiceThread to record your paragraphs with their corresponding pictures. Someone should be able to pull up your project and see six high-quality pictures with a recorded paragraph for each one describing what you have learned.

6.
Now, using all four of the sentence starters below, write four more paragraphs about what you have learned. Pick four more pictures that will represent your thoughts well. Upload the pictures and record the paragraphs on VoiceThread.
  • This makes me think…

  • This makes me wonder…

  • This makes me feel…

  • This makes me question…

7. Works Cited Page with websites and pictures cited in MLA format

8. Share your project. When you have finished uploading your pictures and recording the corresponding paragraphs, share your project by emailing a share link to the class Gmail account. (timberlineenglish[classperiod i.e. B7]).  Get password from Mr. Lassen or Mrs. Wagstaff
